One of the most pressing decisions you will be faced with throughout Hogwarts Legacy is if you should learn the Unforgivable Curse, Crucio. During the ‘In the Shadow of Study‘ questline, you must decide whether to learn Crucio and cast it on Sebastian, your friend, or refrain from learning the spell and taking the curse on yourself.
Near the end of Salazar Slytherin’s puzzle, players will be locked in a room with Ominis Gaunt and Sebastian Sallow. The trio soon figures out that the only way to escape the room is to cast Crucio, the Unforgivable Curse, on one another. Since Ominis is unwilling to either cast or take the curse, the decision is left to you.
You will be presented with three dialog options with different implications:
‘Very well. I don’t want to learn the curse’: By choosing this option, players will allow Sebastian to cast the curse on them and they will not learn Crucio. This will result in the player being reduced to the least possible health.
‘I want to learn the Cruciatus Curse, but you must cast it on me’: By choosing this option, Sebastian will cast Crucio on the player, allowing them to learn the Unforgivable Curse for themselves.
‘Teach me the Cruciatus Curse, and I’ll cast it on you’: By choosing this option, the player will learn Crucio and use the curse on Sebastian at the same time.
Casting Crucio on Sebastian or yourself has no story-breaking effect on the game. It is purely up to you and what you want your story and character to look like. Consider the implications and make your decision wisely.
